Введение
"Гимн Годивы", "Гимн инженера" или "Песня инженеров за выпивку" – традиционная застольная песня для инженеров Северной Америки. Различные версии песни связаны с Инженерным корпусом армии, а также с MIT, MTU и другими университетами, и сейчас часто исполняется а капелла группой The Chorallaries из MIT. Во многих инженерных факультетах университетов, военных инженерных корпусах и других инженерных организациях и обществах Леди Годива является символом или талисманом учебного заведения. "Гимн Годивы" поется либо на мелодию "Битвенного гимна Республики", либо "Сына Гамболиера". В предрождественские дни традицией Мемориального Бэнда леди Годивы (sic) Университета Торонто является исполнение "Гимна Годивы" на мелодию "Добрый король Вацлав". Huskies Pep Band часто исполняет вариант песни инженеров на большинстве мероприятий. Сохраняя основную мелодию оригинальной песни, группа добавляет куплеты, уникальные для университета. Припев и куплеты, повествующие о тяжелом детстве поэта, рожденного в семье проститутки и шахтера на Аляске, до сих пор остаются неотъемлемой частью выступлений Huskies Pep Band. Группа добавляет к оригинальному припеву в общей сложности 3 куплета.
Пародийная версия
Известная непристойная пародия на инженерскую песню под названием "Round and Round Went the Great Big Wheel" была знаменито записана Оскаром Брендом в 1940-х годах. Позже она послужила источником вдохновения для одного из эпизодов сериала "Армия папы".
