This number rises, according to the Pukesmas, to 1635 by 1994, with 64% of the population claiming descent from the Engganese people. The 2020 Census showed a population of 4,035, while the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 4,121.

Флора и фауна
На острове произрастает и обитает ряд эндемичных видов растений и животных. Среди них – птицы: энгганская воробьиная сова (Enggano scops owl), энгганский императорский голубь (Enggano imperial pigeon), энгганский дрозд (Enggano thrush), энгганский горный мейну (Enggano hill myna) и энгганский белоглазик (Enggano white eye).
