Использование союзов для ритмического эффекта
Полисиндетон (от древнегреческого πολύ poly, означающего «многие», и συνδετόν syndeton, означающего «связанный вместе») — это намеренное введение союзов в предложение с целью «замедлить ритм прозы» и создать «впечатляюще торжественное звучание». В грамматике полисинтетическая координация — это координация, в которой все координируемые члены связаны сочинительными союзами (обычно и, но, или, либо на английском языке).
В Библии короля Якова
Полисиндетон широко используется в Библии короля Якова, где союз "и" применяется как буквальный перевод еврейского waw consecutive и древнегреческой частицы δέ. Например:
"И уничтожено было всякое живое существо на земле, и человек, и скот, и ползающие твари, и птицы небесные; и они были истреблены с земли, и остался только Ной и те, кто был с ним в ковчеге" (Бытие 7:22–24).
"И если кто-нибудь коснется чего-либо нечистого, будь то труп нечистого зверя, или труп нечистого скота, или труп нечистого ползающего существа, и это останется для него неизвестным, то он также будет нечист и виновен" (Левит 5:2).
